Safety Chairperson - Training & Certification Required - OPEN
This chairperson (Safety Director) is responsible to make sure the meet is run within the guidelines of the Mid- Atlantic rules for safety. The Safety Committee ensures proper running of warm-up lanes/sprint lanes and roped off areas according to the meet director and F&M policy. Assisting anyone who needs medical attention is also a requirement. The chairperson will coordinate assignments for upstairs and bathroom monitors during our home meets. Certification from USA Swimming is required to serve as a chairperson of this committee. Certification can be accomplished over the internet. The number of volunteers per meet is determined by the safety director. At least two Safety workers are needed for each Session of a meet.
Official Coordinator - Training and Certification Required - Joe Hershey
This chairperson must contact ALL officials and referees for home meets and confirm their attendance. This is done prior to each meet and will require a check in with the Meet Director. This job will be one person for all three (3) home meets due to the contacts and familiarity with outside officials.
Meet Set-up and Tear-down - Jeff & Jen Bennett
This Chairperson will coordinate the committee members and be available to help set-up on the evening before a meet and tear-down early in the evening of the last day of the meet. They will also be needed to retrieve items from our storage area and return them following the meet. If any items must be replenished or replaced, the chairperson will notify the proper person or the board member overseeing this committee. Committee members will help with the set-up and teardown and will be available to make any food/drink runs during the meet. Check with Chairperson regarding how many committee members are needed.
Head Table Operations - Training Required - OPEN
This Chairperson will be responsible for getting trained people to work the Colorado Timing System and the computer (Meet Manager) during each DSC home meet. You will be asked to help train members who are interested learning these systems. For each meet a Computer Operator (Training Required) and Colorado Operator (Training Required) are needed. A Runner is also typically needed, this position posts results to Results Board and gets printed labels to the Awards Committee.
Meet Volunteer Coordinator - Sarah Clark
This Chairperson will work with the Meet Director and post job assignments one (1) month prior to DSC home meets, and makes sure that each committee chairperson/coordinator gets a list of helpers, so that they can confirm the list and return it to you. This list in final form is then given to the Meet Director two (2) weeks prior to the meet so they can be on top of all volunteers for the entire meet.
Sponsorship Chairperson - OPEN
This Chairperson will coordinate all committee helpers to get local and corporate sponsorship for our home meets. The goal is to get hotels, restaurants, and businesses to advertise in our heat sheets and/or on banners placed in the pool area. It will be up to the Chairperson to determine how many committee members are needed.
Meet Director - Heather Uhlin
The Meet Director will be responsible to learn the operation of the whole meet as well as be trained and certified to run a meet. They will help train new people and answer questions. Anyone interested in learning more about the Meet Director position should contact the Board of Directors or Heather Uhlin.
Assistant to the Meet Director - OPEN
This chairperson will work directly with the Meet Director. He/She will serve as a “Contact Person” for committee heads, volunteers, and officials. The chairperson is expected to attend all meets and provide support where ever needed throughout the execution of the meet. Responsibilities will vary depending on the type of meet. This individual will work closely with the Meet Director to divide responsibilities throughout the course of a meet. Ideally, this individual should have interest in learning and training to become a future Meet Director.
Web Site - Brian Uhlin
This chairperson will be asked to coordinate all materials and info that is released to be put on the DSC website. This role is currently held by a Board Member.
Hospitality - OPEN
These Chairpersons is responsible for coordinating the Coaches and Officials table for each home meet. This needs to be worked out through F&M and the board. It is extremely important that we follow guidelines regarding the selling/handling of food in order to maintain our ability to provide this service at DSC home meets. Committee members are asked to help with sign-ups for food, set-up and teardown. Our club is known for “Great Hospitality” in the Middle Atlantic LSC. It is our goal to maintain this wonderful reputation. It is up to the the committee chairperson to determine how many committee members are needed. Children may not work this position.
Concessions - OPEN
These chairpersons are responsible for a food list (sizes and number of items) for each home meet. This should be posted one (1) month prior to each home meet and should be confirmed 2-weeks prior to each meet. The Chairperson will also be responsible for setting up a schedule, and confirming the schedule with committee members prior to the meet. Committee members will also be responsible for the cash box/change and any other help the chairperson needs. Typically four people are needed per session at each meet. Children may not work this position.
Travel Coordinator - Gina Popalis
This Chairperson will find hotels and block rooms, get directions, and if requested, plan a team dinner for non-DSC sponsored/away meets. This is a great help to team members and new people who are unfamiliar with locations and protocol.
You will be asked to announce the meet, work with officials and generally keep things moving during the meet. Once person is needed per session at each meet.
Lobby Monitor Coordinator - Patti Butler
This Chairperson is responsible for assigning Lobby Monitors during practice sessions. Sign-up sheets are posted monthly on the DSC Bulletin Board for members to sign- up. The Chairperson is also responsible for making sure Lobby Monitors are following F&M guidelines when carrying out their duties. The Chairperson will keep track of points, and submit them to their Board Advisor.
T-shirt Committee - Dan Myers
Committee members will assist Chairperson in designing and ordering T-shirts for the TYR Holiday Classic meet in December. Committee members will also help sell t-shirts during this meet. Typically at least one person is needed per session per meet; typically T-Shirts are not sold in the evening (Finals) sessions.
Equipment Chairperson - Amanda Campbell
Committee members will assist Chairperson in ordering and distributing equipment and clothing.
Team Picture Chairperson - OPEN
Committee members will assist the Chairperson during picture night by collecting money and organizing swimmers. Committee members will also help in the distribution of pictures.
Banquet Chairperson - Shirly DePerrot
Committee members will aid the Chairperson in planning and holding an end of year banquet. It is up to the the committee chairperson to determine how many committee members are needed.
Awards Chairperson - OPEN
Committee members will work during meets in the awards room. Normally two people are needed in the Finals or evening sessions. This job works past the end of the meet until all results are posted and award labels are printed. You will be dealing directly with other Team's coaches.
Admissions - Gina Popalis & Darlene Howard
This Chairperson is responsible for assigning admission workers for all sessions of every home meet. They are also responsible for tracking points of their workers and submitting these to their Board Advisor. Two people per session are required per meet. Children may not work this position.
Responsible for using a hand held stop watch and/or the Colorado system timing button to collect and manually record the swimmers times for each heat in each event per session. A total to 16 Timers are needed (2 per lane) for each Session per meet at TYR Cup, 8 Timers (1 per lane) for each Session for Long Course. Swimmers in the Distance Sessions (500 meters and longer) are required to provide their own Timers/Counters. Children may not work this position at TYR Cup
